Wastewater Treatment: An Important Factor of Our Economy
The efficient treatment of wastewater has a positive impact on our City and the economy. It also has a positive impact on the quality of our surface and groundwater and eliminates pollution and potential health impacts associated with improper management of wastewater.
As the City of Hattiesburg works to make the best possible decisions associated with the construction, improvement and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, it is critical to consider and keep in mind the positive economic impacts of human health, strong businesses, and clean rivers and streams.
As your city officials, we are carefully evaluating all of the wastewater treatment options currently available. The decisions we make today will impact us, and those that come after us, for many years to come. We encourage you to be involved as decisions are made by attending the regularly held City Council work session on the first and third Monday of each month at 4 p.m. at City Hall.
Ultimately, the safe and efficient treatment of wastewater will protect the excellent quality of life we currently enjoy in Hattiesburg, attract industry and business to our area that will help sustain our economy, and encourage others to visit and enjoy the attractions our City has to offer.
